The Ballet school

The Ballet school « Ecole de Danse de la Côte » is directed by Mrs Cecilia Mones-Ruiz, who trained as a professional dancer in the famous Rudra Company run by Maurice Béjart. She then worked in several countries such as Argentina, Mexico, Germany as a dancer and choreographer.

She came back to Switzerland to work with Maurice Béjart and in 2002; she became his assistant and ballet mistress for several productions. With this wealth of experience, Mrs Mones-Ruiz decided to open her own school, the "Ecole de Danse de la Côte".

The programme is designed for talented young dancers and amateurs.

The Ecole de Danse de la Côte aims for social, educational and cultural development. One of our objectives is the thorough training of young people who are passionate about dance and who wish to make it their life – as dancers, teachers, or choreographers.

The school offers an intensive and comprehensive training with a wide range of courses, concentrating above all on classical dance, pointes, the art of the pas de deux, and modern or contemporary dance.

The dance courses are developed in the traditional style, i.e. bar/floor. Classes develop progressively, with due regard to the age and capacities of each student.
Each student is asked to perform the exercises to the best of their ability. Their results take students’ qualities and limits, personal responses and individuality into account.

While maintaining the standards of the discipline, the professor will be sure to listen, and will follow each student individually, with the goal of aiding their development in everyday life, just as much as in the beautiful art that is Dance.
